HAIL, THE SCHOOL IN THE CLOUDS AND DOGS Kevin arrived safely in Kenya last Saturday and immediately was plunged into orientation and a whole lot of paperwork to fill out. Rift Valley Academy is located about 90 minutes outside of Nairobi, and has been in existence for over 100 years. Teddy Roosevelt laid one of the cornerstones! It is at 7,000 feet and is sometimes called "the School in the Clouds". There are 500 missionary kids from 30 countries who attend school, many of them with parents serving in Wquite difficult places across Africa. We can testify that RVA is a safe, supportive place for these kids, as our Toby found his 4 years there to be "home" in so many ways. RVA not only does a great job educating, they work to make sure that MKs have spiritual formation, social adjustment and preparation to re-enter their passport countries. Kevin will be plunging into multiple roles including doing the purchasing run into Nairobi (with incredible traffic), working with staff discipleship and leadership training, and some other smaller things. We are both looking forward to serving the kids one-on-one in small groups and other ways. One way we hope to serve is with our "therapy dogs" who we would like to bring from Namibia. Pepper the Great Dane would be ideal for this. Of course, mainly we'd like to have our pets because we love them and have missed them terribly this year. Their current situation is stable but not ideal. It's an expensive proposition to bring them, and if you'd like to help us with this, you can click on this link to see more. Steve Graham is in Namibia with 2 of the kids this month to sell their things and say final goodbyes. Please keep him and Namibian daughters Sinsua and Khitani, young teenagers, in your prayers. It will be a big transition for the whole family as they settle in USA and move on to regular jobs. Cami and Charlie will leave USA on August 22nd. Please pray for this move and for Charlie as he meets friends and hopefully settles in long-term. Toby flies on August 20th to Arkansas to start sophomore year. Pray for a good school year. Our support needs are almost met! As usual, our Father knew all about it and is busy providing. It is a trust we have to learn again and again. Our Father goes ahead, and hems us in behind and on all sides . . . such a comfort in this time of new, continuing, and goodbyes. Namibia has vaccines! Covid is decreasing, but still many are ill and every week we hear of more deaths. Pray for the Christians of Namibia to be God's hands and feet. Kevin & Cami
