Namibia’s first missions conference!

A dream that started quite a few years ago was realized in August when AIM and SIM threw the first Namibian missions conference!  For those two days, it felt like Namibia was the center of Africa as we had people from various African countries attending.  Ray Mensah from Ghana was the main speaker, and he had us all on our toes and often with hearts racing as he spoke of what African missionaries have accomplished, and how much more there is to do.

One of the attendees stood up and said how much he appreciated that Africans were speaking at the conference, and how much it meant to him.  So often, white people are leading these events but we chose to stand back.

What an encouraging time!  Kevin spent many months putting it together and it was beautiful to see people in ministry in Namibia come together to encourage and be encouraged.  We plan to make it an annual event and are hoping that next year many more pastors will attend to hear about God’s desire for the nations!!  And Africa’s role!

Lots to report on, here’s a few bits:

– Kevin’s visit to Angola was a great success and the partnership with an International Church there has been solidified, to welcome our Brazilian missionaries later this year.

-Cami turned Unit Leadership of Angola over to Kevin, with relief since her plate is so full with AfriGO.  She’s been working on getting the Angola field going since 2018.   His Portuguese skills came back!

– Kevin and Robert, from one of our supporting churches in Tennessee, took a quick turn around Namibia right after the conference and visited with prospective Zambian missionary Richard Mwako way out on the very tip of Namibia.  They crossed into Zambia together, where they visited the future language learning site for our Brazilian missionaries.  33 total hours of driving!

Answers to prayer

-Toby is back at school for his senior year at John Brown University.  He is living off campus this year with roommates.

-Another issue of AfriGO came out yesterday, on the issue of Member Care for missionaries, a big need in African missions agencies.  This year so far, 32 missionaries in northern Nigeria have been killed or kidnapped.  Click on the cover to view.

-Kevin will fly to South Africa at the end of the month for Southern Region leadership meetings.  Now he is Unit Leader for 2 units!
