Planned surgery and emergency surgery
Cami had her planned spinal fusion on the 14th of last month. We thought of showing a photo of two of the screws (which are over 2 1/2 inches long) that were replaced, but a friend said seeing them made him feel really nauseous, so we will spare you. It all went very smoothly, and now she has six screws in the spine instead of four, and is recuperating well and on schedule. It will be some weeks yet before she can function normally and for now she is working while lying down, and doing some walking around the yard as prescribed. We are thankful for success and for His provision in the difficult days afterwards.

Unexpectedly, on Charliie’s 18th birthday (last Friday) he began vomiting and was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night. On Monday, he had emergency surgery to repair a blocked small bowel, which is a very serious situation. We are so grateful the surgeon operated in time and that he has had excellent medical care. The poor kid is STILL in the hospital and we are hoping he can come home tomorrow. It’s been a hard week for him but he has been amazingly patient and a real trooper. Pray for a good recovery. He’s missed a week of school and will likely miss another. Pray that he’ll feel God’s love for thim through all this.
| Kevin continues to make preparations for the three short term teams coming in July and August, and is booking rooms, cars and planning ministry events. At the same time, he is preparing an intensive course on the book of Acts which he’ll present at a Bible school in Lubango, Angola, in May, in Portuguese. This must be finished before he leaves mid-April to visit the USA! Toby is graduating college (already?) in early May and Kevin will make some visits before spending time with Toby before and after graduation. Of course, he’s also handling all the sickos, most of the housework and cooking, and has been back and forth to the hospital a lot. Pray for his strength |
Prayer and Praise:
- Please pray for Toby as he finishes his last semester of college and tries to decide what to do next. He needs a Master’s to practice counseling and there are some decisions to be made.
2. Pray for Charie in his recovery and for Cami in hers. She’ll start therapy next week.
3. Pray for Kevin as he prepares his class on Acts and makes plans for lots of things upcoming this year.
4. Pray for Charlie as he catches up on his schoolwork and learns to eat again.
5. The new issue of AfriGO, on missions and the arts, comes out next week. Pray for final wrap-up and that it will be inspiring to the African Church.
