Moving Forward

We have been thinking a lot about the concept of moving forward. We may be referring to our own walks with Jesus, missions going forward so all may hear of our Savior or even physically going forward in a new directions. As we try to share our lives and where God leads us personally and in our ministries we want to challenge and inspire you as well to listen to our good and gracious Lord in how He leads. Now, without further ado, moving forward…. The other day I was talking to a friend who introduced this idea of a “faith leash.” You may be familiar with the dog leash, which is on a spring coil, and can go from 2 feet to 10 and then back again in seconds, zipping him/her back to your side in the blink of an eye if danger is near. God can rein you in (heel) to His side when you need more guidance and a closer feeling of His presence but as you walk and grow in your relationship with the master, your faith also increases and He ‘lets out the line’ so to speak.

That is how we feel, at the end of this leash, applying all the faith we can muster. Focusing on His goodness, remembering He hasn’t let us down ever, that He is for us. After a tumultuous year, we find ourselves with uncertainties. Yet, He is also giving us enough faith to walk out on this very long leash, reassuring us from time to time of His presence and care, other times pulling us very near. I Corinthians 2:5 “that your faith may not rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

-A big prayer request is that we’ve discovered our support is at 82% and must be 100% before we can return. We were dismayed.

However, recently, in her AfriGO work, Cami was putting the story of Nigerian missionaries in Chad struggling with their finances up on the website and found the following quote so inspiring:

“If it is we who have brought ourselves here, then we have the responsibility of sustaining ourselves. But if it is God who has brought us here, then He will put at our disposal all the needed resources.”

So true, isn’t it? You can read the Trusting God for Finances story on the AfriGO stories page.

Will you pray for these needs to be met soon so we can get back where He has called us? – A huge praise that we get to spend this summer together with both our boys. Toby returned from John Brown a bit tired but well and we are enjoying eating good food together and playing board games in the evenings. We look forward to some planned family get togethers with Cami’s family and my family as well in the coming weeks. Please pray for Toby for work. He has work until mid-July but nothing after that. He needs to earn money for college. – We praise God that Charlie (Ben is now going by his middle name) finished 8th grade after a great semester in a local Christian school. He had a good experience, a relief after some not so great experiences the last years. We are still waiting to hear if he can attend RVA and that will determine a lot of things going forward. Please pray for this.

News from Namibia

With great joy we report that the Wildgens have started to settle in Windhoek to teach at the Namibia Evangelical Seminary. They have found a home, a car and started to meet and integrate with the students. Continue to pray for their children to adapt and find friends and for Eric to see well how he can teach and mentor at the school and connect with students at a heart level.

Dear Faces

Two weeks ago, we visited Harmony Church in Middletown, NY again and are always so touched by their kindness and their beautiful faith. Last weekend we saw many old friends in Poughkeepsie, NY, where Toby was born, and each visit was encouraging and a great reminder of His faithfulness. The only hard thing with these visits, is we always have to say goodbye and leave again! Someday, we will have all the time in the world.

AfriGO – a magazine for African Churches to send missionaries to the unreached. Cami is still working hard on AfriGO and the new issue is available here , or go to the website and see what else she has been doing. This new issue is on African missions agencies and you will be AMAZED at all that is going on over there. It is inspiring and hopeful. That’s all from us this week – we are hoping to make a plan soon to visit the Southeast; stay tuned!

We appreciate you so much,

Kevin & Cami
