Namibia – 6 COVID tests later
Cami and I have been thinking, talking and praying lately and we agree we love our jobs and are seeing God do stuff in and through us for which we are so very thankful. Even in these strange and challenging times we want to make disciples who keep moving…keep trusting and going forward to know Him more, to invite others to know Him and share His great story with those we know and others we do not.
Over the next year you will begin to see the phrase “moving forward” come up in these newsletters, our prayer letters and on the blog. It will be our constant effort to share with you how not only are we personally moving forward in our lives and faith but also share stories and relevant information on what God is doing in AIM, Namibia and AfriGO. We are excited by this and pray it encourages and opens our small word of missions up to you.
Furlough… Not vacation nor sabbatical. In actuality we both continue to work from afar and are thrilled with what we see happening. We are going to keep this update brief and to the point.
In Jan & Feb Kevin went to Kenya for leadership meetings and Namibia to visit team members and do mission business and although a bit complicated due to Covid, it was highly productive and possibly ground-breaking! He had a total of 6 covid tests before, during, and after the 3 1/2 week trip!! All negative. 🙂
1. Members are doing well! It was great to be with them for a few days on each site. Each going through their own particular struggles and personal joys! It was great to get updates, pray with them and encourage them.
2. Kevin met with the Deputy Minister of Marginalized People in Windhoek and he is excited by AIM’s activity in Tsumkwe amongst the San (where the Hazels are) and offered to help getting new missionaries into the country, both among the San in Tsumkwe and in Opuwo to work among the Himba (an upcoming new ministry area). This is HUGE! Praise God.
3. Then in Kenya, Kevin was able to have multiple meetings with our Southern Region leadership as well as our International Director who happened to be in Nairobi!
Here in Connecticut things are good!
1. Charlie (Ben has chosen to go by his middle name now), thanks to a gift of a supporter, is attending a private Christian School, Christian Heritage School, and enjoying being with other kids his age. The school is meeting face-to-face with good protocols in place. We are all much happier. Please keep praying for Charlie as he processes the last few years.
2. We have been able to visit my family up 1 ½ hours north of us on weekends which has been very nice for everyone. 3. We visited Harmony Church in Middletown, NY, last weekend and it was so great to reconnect. We hope to visit others as protocols allow.
3. Cami and AFRIGO are going great guns, gathering inspiring stories, helpful training options and offering many resources to encourage the African church to send, support and pray for missionaries. Cami is researcher, interviewer, writer, editor assistant and at times cheerleader of the band of three who carry this magazine. See it here:
4. Lastly we ask you to pray for the Wildgen family, who will be arriving in Windhoek with their 5 kids in March to start work in the Namibia Evangelical Seminary! Eric will be the first AIM missionary working with the seminary in over 10 years!
We appreciate you – the prayers of His people are a pleasant fragrance to our Father. Be smelly! 🙂
Kevin & Cami
