Lockdown after 4 weeks…
Namibia continues to be on lockdown with few Covid-19 infections (only 16 confirmed!) and NO deaths! Our restrictions here are the same as many places: we can’t leave the house except for shopping, doctor or exercise. When out, social distancing and no gatherings. The airport is closed and we are stuck here, which is a strange feeling but we are well and healthy.
Ministry continues very much the same
– Cami is doing her writing, research and editing of the AfriGO magazine.
– Ben has been doing online school via Zoom for 3 weeks and it is going well. His 8th grade school year ends in November.
– Toby will not return to RVA for the rest of his senior year, which ends in July. Please pray for him – this is a major blow. He plans on attending John Brown University starting in August.
-Kevin on the other hand has had his responsibilities curtailed quite a lot so he has picked up long forgotten books he was asked/suggested to read, has reviewed curriculum and is trying to keep up with our people here in Namibia. ‘Planning’ for the future is a daily struggle of what we can and cannot plan on.

What we are thankful for so many things:
1. We are together as a family. Usaully our times together are limited to a month…this has been so nice to have Toby and Ben together. We are trying to use every day to grow, have fun and have meaningful time together.
2. Although deep in our hearts we wish we could be more help and support to our families and those in need in America we are so grateful we have been able to use Zoom, Skype and Whatsapp to communicate weekly with friends and family during this unsettling time.

4. Some have asked about our needs and support level—-for the time being our support has remained steady and for this we are so very thankful!
5. On a lighter note we are ‘fostering’ wild kittens which has provided much entertainment to us as we are in the house so much. One has already found a home…and the other two are now gentle enough to go. We are expecting a new hissing and spitting ball of fluff today.
What about Africa? As infections rise in our sister country, South Africa, we know that it will eventually come here. The predictions are dire, but the rate of infection has been slow. Lockdown in many countries here means that people are going hungry, and already there is social unrest even in peaceful Namibia. Economies here are already in trouble, and widespread famine is predicted in many places. We feel so unsettled as we wait for what may be coming, but unsure exactly what it will be. We are asking God to continue to use us here in whatever way He desires. Up to now, we are often asked about the “conspiracy theories” that are circulating and have tried to be a voice of calm to the believers that we know here. In the stormy days ahead we pray we can be source of steadiness as we keep our feet on the Rock of Ages.
Please know we pray for you and watch from afar the struggle going on in the states right now. At times we weep for all the heartache .
Kevin & Cami
